ABOUT CAROLE
Carole began her career as an apprentice in a “high-end” drapery workroom where she was educated in “Custom Drapery Theory”, measuring, fabrication and the "Art of Dressing Windows.”
She later learned reupholstering from a fellow who was born, raised and acquired the trade in Scotland. He was an “Old World” quality craftsman who belonged to a guild and worked in a furniture building company.
Carole owned and operated a Custom Drapery and Reupholstery business in Northville, Michigan, where she decorated the windows of exclusive clubs and large custom homes. She also completed extravagant sewing projects for interior designers and furniture companies.
Later, in Florida, Carole operated a “dockside sewing service” utilizing a special mobile workroom, for owners of large yachts. She fabricated bimini tops, awnings, custom enclosures and covers of all types as well as drapes and reupholstering for the interiors. She also subcontracted with Chris-Craft Boat Co sewing drapes for their new 40 and 50 foot luxury cabin cruisers.
For the past two decades, Carole has conducted her business in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina and has developed a following of many satisfied custom drapery and reupholstery customers.
